You are looking for how to use Hulu outside of the US? Whether on your mobile device, your Fire TV Stick, or computer, this is the ultimate guide that will help you use Hulu outside of the US. And let’s just say, it’s not as simple as just using a VPN to make Hulu think you are in the US.
Let’s start with the most common questions about Hulu though.
No. On a computer, you can use Hulu directly from the web browser.
If you want to use Hulu outside of the US on a Chromecast even if you normally live in the US, that will not be possible. Just like with Netflix, it doesn’t matter what you do to try to make Hulu work on Chromecast. It won’t work. That’s why instead of using the Chromecast, you should probably try the Amazon Fire TV Stick if you want to use Hulu outside of the US.
If you really need to use the Chromecast as you have no other way, you could try to cast your screen from your phone or laptop to your Chromecast. But that will not be the best solution in many cases as then you are streaming something and sending something from one device at the same time, and that might not provide you with the smoothest experience if you want to use Hulu outside of the US.
You need the app. You need an account. You need Hulu to think that you are in the US.
If you already have the app and an account or one of those and want to use Hulu outside of the US, it will be a simple task. If you don’t, it will be slightly tougher, and you will probably have to wait a few days, but it will be worth in the end.
On Android, to make Hulu appear in your Play Store, you need to change your billing address. That’s a relatively simple process.
This should allow you to find Hulu in the Play Store. If not, repeat the last two bullet points a few times. And do connect to our VPN. More on that below.
On Apple devices, it works slightly different than it would on Android devices.
You can’t just change your address on an Apple device. You automatically lose everything you ever downloaded if you do.
Instead, you need to make a new account based in the US followed by downloading Hulu and then switching back to your old account. That way you don’t lose anything. How do you do it?
Firstly, sign out of your current iCloud account on your device followed by going into Settings and pressing on iCloud where you should see a button related to making a new Apple ID.
Of course, you then have to go through the registration process. You’ve done it before, so you know how it goes.
Except, this time, you need to provide an American address with an American zip code. There’s plenty of address generators on Google if you search for them so don’t worry. Lastly, for payment, select None.
Once you make an account, you should be able to see Hulu in the App Store. If not, restart your device and also connect to a VPN which we will talk about a bit lower.
This is the reason the Fire TV Stick is so much better than the Chromecast. You can't use Hulu outside of the US with Chromecast. You can with the Fire TV Stick.
But Hulu won’t just be present there for download no reason. It’s only available in the US so it will only be present in the American Amazon Appstore. While, the other installation guides more so involve your devices, this one, you should do on your web browser on your computer.
You should download our PrivateVPN app directly on your device before downloading Hulu as that might be needed for Hulu to appear, and it’s a needed step later on for making Hulu think you are in the US.
It’s simple. You search for it like you would for any other app on your Fire TV Stick.
Do you want to use Hulu outside of the US? This is the hardest task. Hulu made it tricky. It’s not enough to sign up with a generated address. Hulu checks where your card comes from. If it’s not issued in the US, you will not be able to use Hulu. And there’s no way to fight that.
The best choice is to know somebody in the US and ask them if they can set a Hulu account up for you or if otherwise, you can use theirs and pay them half of the bill, as, after all, they probably use Hulu.
If you do not know anybody that uses Hulu or wants to do it for you, your journey with Hulu will probably not start today.
You need an American card. No exceptions.
A one from Canada or Mexico won’t work. It needs to be from America.
The quickest method? A virtual card. That method is the quickest but also the most likely not to work.
The better method? A prepaid card from the US. There’s plenty around on the internet. These sometimes aren’t best value as these services generally use the fact you need an American card, but they are a good choice for setting Hulu up. You will have to wait a few days for one to come in though.
And in case you are wondering how you will pay for Hulu if you don’t want to use that pre-paid card after you get to sign up for Hulu, you can buy Hulu gift cards without a problem on the internet. And those can be used for payment.
This is not the hardest part, but it is the most important part. Without this, having an account and the app won’t matter. This step, you should apply before even changing the countries of your stores when wanting to download Hulu.
See, Hulu can tell that you are not in the US if you are not in the US. Luckily, it’s easier to trick the internet and software than people. With the right tools, you can make Hulu think that you are in the US without ever stepping foot into the US. We, at PrivateVPN, provide people with an ability to use a virtual private network that’s often also called a VPN. When you are connected to a VPN, everything you do, it becomes secure, but you also have the ability to be everywhere you desire in the world without being there.
That’s great in theory but connecting to a server in a certain country is not enough.
Hulu is fighting VPN services and tries to block servers a lot.
That means that a lot of services have American servers, but they don’t work when it comes to Hulu. We offer two servers that work with Hulu. Buffalo & New York 1.
If you connect to them, Hulu will think that you are in the US and will let you use their service.
We called this the ultimate guide because this should help you know how to use Hulu outside of the US regardless of where you are on what device you are on but if you have any problems, make sure to reach out to our customer support!
