Want to watch Disney Plus in Nigeria? Just like in almost all of the continent of Africa, Disney Plus is not available in Nigeria. The steps in this guide? They’ll help you unblock Disney Plus in Nigeria, but they will also allow you to watch many other streaming platforms that are not available in Nigeria, such as DAZN and Hulu.
...But first...
Before Disney launched its Disney Plus platform in Europe, it had to wait.
It wasn’t entirely because they wanted to roll-out at a slower pace, but more so because the agreements that were previously in place prevented Disney from rolling out Disney Plus in Europe.
Other platforms had rights to show Disney content.
When it comes to Nigeria, the same is happening.
Disney isn’t able to show a lot of its content in Nigeria, because it doesn’t have the rights to it.
Firstly, you need to make Disney Plus think you are in a Disney Plus supported region.
That can be in the US, Sweden, or Ireland.
Almost any Disney Plus supported location should do.
Secondly, you need to create a Disney Plus account which is a much harder step as it requires the payment method to be from the country that Disney thinks you are in.
...If you make Disney think you are in the US, you need an American card. If you make Disney think you are in Ireland, you need an Irish card.
...And so on, and on...
Now that we have that of the way, let’s get into the solutions.
To make Disney think that you are in a supported region, you need to be in that region, but virtually.
For that, you will need a VPN.
A VPN that has a server in one of the Disney locations is the first step, but that by itself is not enough.
Why?
As while Disney has blocks to prevent you from watching Disney Plus in Nigeria, it also has blocks to prevent people with VPN services from unblocking it.
...In order not to break agreements.
And this is where PrivateVPN comes in as a VPN service that focuses on entertainment and the quality of servers.
...Meaning fewer servers, but servers that can unblock services like Disney Plus, Hotstar, or DAZN.
This is the part of the guide that most guides on Disney Plus never mention, and thus most people can’t properly unblock Disney Plus in Nigeria.
To create a Disney Plus account, you need the right payment card.
An Irish card for Ireland. A US card for the US.
....And so on.
Naturally, that makes it super hard to create an account.
But there is a solution to that problem.
A Disney Plus subscription via the app store of your mobile device whether it’s from Apple or whether it runs Android.
Why does it work?
AS Apple and Google manage payments on their own meaning no card payment blocks like via the Disney Plus website.
...The catch? You will need to first download the Disney Plus app which will require you to change the location of your app store.
(Yes, you can sign back into your old account after.)
Most smart TVs, Apple TV, Chromecast, and even Roku do not support VPN services.
The solution?
We have two.
Either connect an HDMI cable to a laptop and a TV...
...Or get an Amazon Fire TV Device as it supports VPN services.
Just got an Amazon Fire TV Stick? Sign up for an account in a supported region.
If you do already have one, here’s what you can do instead:
Whether it’s Disney Plus or DAZN & Hulu, the steps shared in this guide apply to many streaming services out there.
Connect to the right server with PrivateVPN and create an account via the mobile app.
